- Our lab studies effects of various antimicrobial and natural agents on oral bacterial gene and protein expression and function. We are interested in the mechanistic aspect of how various agents affect oral bacteria with the long-term goal of designing effective treatments. Examples of these agents are tobacco, polyphenols, plant products, and other natural materials.
- Internship Duties:
- Students will select a research project that will be their study from several offered. Specific responsibilities are to complete the project using microbiological tools and procedures. The student will be taught the various required procedures. A poster and oral presentation of the research results are expected.
- Some science background, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
